What happens during a treatment?

Life Reflexology Treatment RoomAll treatments take place in a calm and relaxing environment.  My treatment room at home is on the ground floor and in it I have a Relaxator chair. This chair has been designed by a medical scientist employing anatomical principles to allow the human form a posture of complete relaxation, helping ease the stresses of day to day living. You just sink into it and become at complete rest.

At the first treatment you will be asked some questions about your medical history, your present and past health and lifestyle. This last approximately 15 minutes. At each subsequent treatment you will be asked for feedback on how you and your symptoms have been since the last treatment. After examining your feet for any possible contraindication, you will relax then received the foot/hand reflexology treatment.

The first part of a session involves a relaxing foot/hand massage to prepare your body for the reflexology treatment, the massage helps to stimulate your body. The Reflexologist will then apply a gentle pressure to the various specific reflex points on your feet or hands to initiate more specific responses in your body. The application and effect of the therapy is unique to each person.

How long does a treatment last?

The first treatment lasts for 1 1/2 hours, as this includes the initial consultation. Subsequent treatments last for an hour (or just slightly over if necessary). A course of treatments may be recommended depending on a client’s particular needs. Hand reflexology treatments tend to be slightly shorter approximately 45 minutes.

How will I feel after the treatment?

Reflexology stimulates the body’s own healing mechanism and is deeply relaxing. You may feel more relaxed, invigorated and experience a sense of calm and well-being. Sometimes people report feeling lethargic or need to urinate more – these effects are usually only temporary so please do not be discouraged. They are a sign that your  body is reacting positively to the treatment.
